If you are going to Haridwar then you must see Sandhya Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. The Sandhya Aarti performed at Hari ki Pauri is a supernatural experience. Har ki Pauri is considered to be the holiest ghat of Haridwar. This ghat is also known as Brahma Kund, and was built by King Vikramaditya in memory of his brother Brittani (Bhartihari), who meditated on the banks of the Ganges River. It is considered the most sacred and auspicious point to bath in the Ganges during the Kumbh which held every 12 years.
‘Har ki Pauri’ is the holy and most important religious place of Haridwar, the religious city of Uttarakhand state. It has meaning – “Hari stage of Narayana”. According to Hindu religious beliefs, after the churning of the ocean, Devashilpi Vishwakarma was taking away the urn of nectar, for which the gods and demons were snatching to get it.
Then a few drops of nectar on the earth spilled from the urn and those places became places of religious. The drops of nectar also fell in Haridwar and the place where they fell was “Har ki Pauri”. Bathing here is the most ardent desire of every devotee who has come to Haridwar, because it is believed that bathing here leads to salvation.
